Far too infrequently a book appears on the American scene that intrepidly takes to task many of the ideas that have become current in social and political circles. Dr. L. Scott Smith's America Unraveling is certainly one such book.
In this work, Dr. Smith refreshingly defends "public faith," which he argues has been a source of inspiration and solidarity in American history. Yet he does not hesitate to offer a white-hot critique of the current state of American culture. He declares war on the "sacred cows" of diversity and multiculturalism, secularism, liberalism, and relativism, but takes care to chart the way forward.
One may adamantly disagree, chapter by chapter, with the conclusions of this book, yet one cannot convincingly maintain that Dr. Smith's point-of-view is not fresh, provocative, and scholarly.
